About Patrick Swan

My experience comes through developing heritage gardens

Patrick Swan M.I.Hort trained at Writtle College before embarking on a full time career in garden management. His portfolio to date includes the running, restoration and development of several significant country house gardens open to the public as well as private domestic gardens. These have included Walsingham Abbey, Norfolk and seven years managing the multi award winning gardens of Arley Hall, Cheshire.

Patrick has a thorough and in depth understanding of the issues associated with running any garden, gained from extensive experience both practical and managerial. This knowledge is far reaching and includes staff selection, garden history, health and safety, garden tourism and income generation as well as day to day maintenance.

He has been called upon to lecture on the subject and also has experience of television and other media work. He is a member of the Institute of Horticulture and the Professional Gardeners Guild.

Patrick lives with his family on the family farm in Worcestershire, where Aberdeen Angus and Old Gloucester cattle are reared together with a flock of Ryeland and Texel sheep.
