Patrick Swan chosen to redesign garden at award winning historic railway station.

Patrick Swan has been commissioned to design a new garden to mark the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the opening of Helsby Junction station. This Cheshire station is famous for its gardens, which have repeatedly won prizes. The North Chesire Rail Users Group wanted a garden area adjacent to the main platform redesigned, in conjunction with a major restoration of the grade II listed station buildings which is being carried out by Network Rail.
Patrick has designed a contemporary scheme of perennials and grasses, to echo the surrounding landscape of Helsby Marshes. This imaginative design will provide an attactive and stimulating feature for rail users and help continue the award winning horticultural tradition at this unique station.
His plans have won grant funding, with planting due to begin soon in time for an anniversary gala planned for the summer.
